In 2011, The Mountaineers donated about 400 films to the University of Washington, Special Collections Library. The University has digitized and cataloged these films and compiled them into The Mountaineers Film Collection.

This page and its subsidiary pages document the film collection as it was known before donation to UW. This information was used by Mountaineers History Committee chairman Lowell Skoog to secure initial grants for the film preservation effort. After the films were donated, UW obtained a much larger grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to complete the preservation work and create an online finding aid. In July 2016, the UW project was featured on the National Endowment for the Humanities Tune In Tuesdays site.

Digital video copies of some these films are on a Seagate 2TB USB external disk drive in the Mountaineers Archives. available in the Mountaineer Digital Archives. These digital files were made by the Mountaineers History Committee before the donation to UW. (More digitization was done by UW after the donation.)
