This is an inventory of materials moved stored in boxes during reorganization of the Mountaineers Seattle Program Center Library .
For Special Collection items, the Former Location code refers to the double-sided, locked cabinets in the Library. The code is of the form stack-side-column-row, where the cabinet stacks go from 1 to 3 (east to west), the sides are 'E' (east) and 'W' (west), the column is 'L' (left), 'C' (center) or 'R' (right) when looking at the designated side, and the row is 'T' (top) or 'B' (bottom). Column and row refer to an entire 4ft x 3ft x 2.5ft cabinet module. Thus "2WCB" refers to 2nd stack, west side, center-bottom cabinet.
In the Box Size column, materials that have been removed from boxes and reshelved are marked Unpacked. For 10x12x15 (inch) boxes, we have found that unpacking expands the required space by a factor of 3 to 2. at Magnuson Park in Seattle.
- The Indexed column indicates whether all books in the designated box have been tagged in our catalog to indicate which box they're in.
- The Subjects ID'd column indicates whether all books in the designated box have been categorized (by Geography, Activity, Focus, etc).
- The Cherry Picked column indicates that books we've decided to retain have been removed from the designated box and moved to either the Summit Room (SR) or Archives Room (AR).
- Box IDs, subject categories, and storage locations are recorded in our working copy of the Mountaineers Library Catalog.
Most of the boxes used for temporary storage have dimensions of 10x12x15 inches. For these boxes, we have found that unpacking expands the required space by a factor of 3 to 2. In other words, books that take up two shelves in boxes typically will require three shelves when unpacked.
The Indexed column indicates whether the contents of the box have been tagged to indicate their location (in the specified box). Box IDs are recorded in the online working copy of the Mountaineers Library Catalog.
