A-frame style pack with rattan wrapped wooden frame, canvas bag, canvas shoulder straps, leather waist strap, leather pocket straps. Bag drawstring has Washington State Tax Commission sales tax tokens on the string ends.On loan to WSSSM

1930s or 1940s. Minor repairs have been made to patch small holes, frayed canvas straps, and a missing leather strap. Bag was detached from the leather binding at the apex of the frame and has been repaired by delicate hand stitching. Handle with care.

Tag sewn on bag states REI address as 1525 11th Ave., Seattle, Wash. 98122. Frame has "Mexico" tag (manufacturing location?). Pack is in excellent condition and shows little wear and tear.

North Face A-frame style backpack with removable fiberglass stiffener, nylon bag, padded nylon shoulder straps, waist strap. Pack has large lid with zippered pocket and leather lashing pads, ice axe loop and strap pad. Skis slide through slots under zippered side pockets and can be strapped securely using leather strap patches.On loan to WSSSMProbably late 1970s or 1980s. Donated by Greg Shaw.

Kitz brand A-frame style pack with internal stiffener panel, canvas bag with drawstring and lid closure, three outside pockets, one zippered lid pocket, leather shoulder straps, no waist strap, leather straps for lid and pockets.

Lowell Skoog's houseBelonged to Herb Belanger, Mountaineer member and former reporter and photo-journalist with the Seattle Times. On the lid is written "Herb Belanger Seattle" (faded). (Inside the pack is a small nylon lunch sack and a pair of orange wind pants, not accessioned.)

RucksackHeight 19", width 16", depth 9"Millet brand "Walter Bonatti" rucksack with internal frame, canvas bag with drawstring and zipper-pocket lid. Bottom of the bag and crampon patch are reinforced with leather. Side zippers provide access to inside of pack without opening the lid. Left zipper accesses an internal sleeve. Rucksack has side straps for attaching skis, etc, plus attachment points for ice axe and crampons. Pack has padded shoulder straps and a leather waist belt.Lowell Skoog's houseOn loan from Gary Rose.
